Virtues Reflection Cards
Virtues are the essence of who we are. They are described in the world's sacred traditions as the qualities of the Divine and the attributes of the human spirit. They are the content of our character and the basis of genuine happiness.
The Virtues Reflection Cards offer an opportunity to reflect on and practice the virtues. This simple spiritual discipline can transform our lives.
The Source of the research and content of the Virtues Reflection Cards is The Virtues Project tm, a global initiative in more than 90 countries. The cards were created by the founders: Linda Kavelin Popov, author; Dr. Dan Popov, designer; and John H. Kavelin, design and text consultant. Special thanks to Radha Sahar, Jackie Hagan, and Kay Miller.
The Mission of the Virtues Project tm is to inspire the practice of virtues in everyday life by helping people of all cultures to discover the transformative power of these universal gifts of character. The virtues are spiritual life-skills that hlpe us to live our best lives.
Applications
There are many ways to use the Virtues Reflection Cards: for guidance in making a decision, healing a relationship, clarifying our direction, or simply provide a spiritual focus for the day. They are a unifying activity when used in a sharing circle. When we received a virtue, it is either a confirmation/affirmation or an invitation, never a condemnation.
Personal Virtues Pick: Randomly pick a virtue, with a card, (you can purchase cards here) or by clicking here and then clicking on: Do a Virtues Pick.
Read the card, and reflect on its meaning for you at this time. You may want to pose a question before your receive your card. Journal it and keep a record of the virtues that appear for you each day or week.
To Begin a Meeting: Invite someone to randomly pick a virtue and read it aloud. Use the pick to help focus the meeting. At the close of the meeting, ask how it was helpful. Start your day or week by picking one virtue for your team. Acknowledge each other when you see the virtue in action.
Sharing Circle: While sitting in a circle of friends, family or associates, each person takes a turn to speak briefly about what is on his or her mind, or a life situation, then randomly selects a card and reads it aloud, and shares how it speaks to them. The other/s listen in complete, respectful silence. When each person finishes, the others acknowledge a virtue they see in that person. "I see your (virtue) in the way you ..."
